As a Lead Software Engineer, you are driving engineering excellence while designing, developing and operating scalable, high-quality solutions. You combine deep technical expertise with strategic thinking to shape Hilti’s software engineering direction and cloud capabilities that form the backbone of Hilti’s digital infrastructure. Beyond hands-on development, you inspire, mentor, and steer teams, foster collaboration across global stakeholders, and ensure alignment between long-term vision, engineering practices, and business outcomes.

What You'll do

• You will be a part of our forward looking, international Cloud Development Platform DevSecOps team shaping Hilti’s cloud and AI capabilities of tomorrow.
• You take end-to-end ownership by designing, developing and operating high-quality platform services that build the backbone of Hilti’s software offering.
• Leading by example, you drive continuous improvement, manage technical debt and operational risks proactively as well as optimize the cloud system for scalability and performance.
• In addition, you are leading the software engineering direction by establishing engineering standards, promoting DevSecOps best practices, providing technical coaching and contributing to the AWS cloud software engineering community.

What You’ll Bring

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management or in similar fields – Master/PhD is a bonus (CGPA > 3.0 or similar grading is a must)
• 8+ years of experience in software engineering with a track record of ownership in cross-functional teams, excellent communication skills, and a strong focus on continuous learning, technical curiosity, mentoring and driving high-impact engineering outcomes.
• Deep expertise in modern Java (17+) including concurrency, multithreading, reactive programming, build tools (Gradle/Maven lifecycle), and design principles (SOLID), with experience in performance tuning, JVM optimization and troubleshooting.
• Proven hands-on experience with Spring Boot ecosystem (Security, WebFlux, Data/MyBatis), strong understanding of Spring internals (beans, AOP, request handling, serialization), and API design using REST and OpenAPI.
• Extensive experience designing and operating microservices on AWS using ECS, DynamoDB and Aurora, with solid knowledge of event-driven systems and services such as SQS, SNS, EventBus and Lambdas, combined with CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code practices.
• Strong experience in modern testing approaches (e.g., RestAssured, TestContainers, WireMock, Localstack) and a solid understanding of cloud security, resilience, and operational excellence in enterprise environments.
• Excellent analytical capabilities, ability to communicate with both technical and business stakeholders, highly committed, self-driven, and customer oriented
