Be the trusted legal advisor shaping Hilti Korea’s success and protecting our business.

In this role, you will help protect Hilti and its people while enabling sustainable business growth. As the principal legal advisor for Hilti Korea, you will provide expert guidance on all Korean legal and compliance matters, exercising sound judgment, independence, and strong stakeholder management across both internal teams and external partners. You will report functionally to the Head of Legal & Compliance, North Asia, and locally to the General Manager of Hilti Korea, ensuring close alignment with both regional and country leadership.

 

What You’ll Do

Legal Leadership & Decision Support

  • Provide clear, timely, and actionable legal guidance to Hilti Korea General Manager and leadership team, as well as to sales and marketing teams.
  • Translate legal risks into practical options and recommendations.
  • Take ownership of legal matters, including next steps, timelines, and outcomes.

Commercial Contracting

  • Lead the review and drafting, and support the negotiations, including sales, services (including design), direct/indirect sourcing, distributor and marketing agreements.
  • Ensure contracts are commercially balanced, appropriately risk‑assessed, aligned with Hilti contract risk management policies, while meeting local law requirements.
  • Set and defend acceptable risk positions and deviations, escalating where required.

Compliance & Ethics Leadership

  • Serve as the Local Compliance Officer for Hilti Korea and guide management and employees on complying with Hilti Group policies.
  • Drive implementation, training and enforcement of the Code of Conduct and other group compliance policies (including anti‑corruption, competition law, data protection, trade compliance, and conflicts of interest).
  • Lead or support investigations and disciplinary processes in a structured, fair, and timely manner, coordinating with Hilti Korea Management and Regional Compliance.

Risk Management & Escalation

  • Proactively identify and manage legal and compliance risks affecting Hilti Korea.
  • Design, implement, and improve processes to address identified and emerging risks.
  • Escalate material risks, incidents, and policy deviations promptly and clearly to North Asia and/or Global Legal & Compliance.

Disputes & Investigations

  • Manage litigation, disputes, regulatory inquiries, and investigations involving Hilti Korea.
  • Instruct and oversee external counsel with a clear scope, cost discipline, and strategic direction.
  • Keep management informed of litigation status, risk exposure, and recommended actions.

Governance & Matrix Collaboration

  • Partner closely with the North Asia Legal & Compliance team, balancing local execution with global and regional alignment.
  • Manage corporate secretarial and housekeeping matters and coordinate with external corporate secretarial firms.
  • Build awareness across Hilti Korea of Hilti Group compliance, contract risk management, and governance policies.

 

What You’ll Bring 

  • Law degree (JD, LLM, or equivalent).
  • Admission to practice law in Korea and/or a common law jurisdiction.
  • Minimum 10 years’ post‑qualification experience, including substantial in‑house experience.
  • Experience with EPC/project‑related contracts (product supplier or service provider side) and familiarity with Korean competition and subcontracting regulations are highly beneficial.
  • Experience advising senior management in a commercial environment.
  • Fluency in English and Korean.
  • Ownership mindset: drives topics to resolution with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Sound judgment and ability to get buy in: takes clear positions, stands behind recommendations, and influences stakeholders to align on outcomes.
  • Business‑oriented: balances risk management with commercial priorities.
  • Maturity under pressure: handles sensitive and potentially contentious matters professionally.
  • Escalation discipline: knows what to escalate, frames issues crisply, and proposes solutions with Hilti Korea management and the regional/global legal teams.
