Head of Global Customs and Export Operations

Role Overview
In this role, you will lead the company’s global end-to-end customs and export operations, ensuring that all cross-border movements comply with international trade regulations. You will head a global team responsible for managing daily import and export activities, maintaining full alignment with global customs & country requirements. The team oversees product classification, daily origin management, ensures a smooth replenishment flow between Headquarter and its subsidiaries and supports customs audits while driving operational efficiency and cost optimization.
This full‑time position is available immediately.
What you’ll do
- Ensure compliant execution and documentation of import and export declarations while managing customs cost reporting in close collaboration with finance
- Classify products using EU and CH tariff codes and maintain accurate customs, origin, and supplier declaration master data
- Lead customs audits and ensure adherence to customs and supply chain security standards (AEO, Known Consignor)
- Steer customs brokers and 3PL partners while driving cost savings and process efficiencies
- Collaborate closely with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and contribute to international distribution projects and initiatives
- Build, develop, and lead the customs team while continuously improving processes, leveraging technology, and enabling business continuity through compliant, agile solutions
What you’ll bring
- Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management, International Business, or a related field (MBA preferred)
- Extensive experience leading global customs and logistics operations in a large international company
- Strong expertise in customs compliance systems such as MIC, SAP, or similar trade management tools
- Deep knowledge of customs procedures, international trade regulations, and compliance requirements
- Structured, detail-oriented, and analytical mindset with strong project management and problem-solving skills
- Influential leader and team player with strong communication skills in a multicultural environment; fluent in German and English
