The Hilti OnTrack team is seeking a high-caliber and highly motivated Engineering Manager to lead the planning, design, implementation, and delivery of critical components for our cutting-edge asset management solution tailored to the construction industry.

Hilti OnTrack is a comprehensive asset management platform that revolutionizes how construction companies manage tools, equipment, materials, and other assets across multiple job sites. Our solution ensures efficient utilization, reduces loss, and optimizes inventory management. Your work will play a pivotal role in driving the success of our platform, impacting users worldwide.

As part of our engineering team, you will be at the forefront of developing the next generation of software solutions that cater to the unique challenges of the construction industry. You will lead a team of engineers in delivering high-quality, scalable software that meets the evolving needs of our customers. Your leadership and technical expertise will be instrumental in shaping the future of asset management in the construction sector.

Responsibilities:

  • Technical Leadership: 
  1. Lead and mentor a team of software engineers, providing guidance on best practices, coding standards, and design principles.
  2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Product Management, QA, DevOps) to define project scope, timelines, and deliverables.
  3. Drive the adoption of modern software engineering practices, including CI/CD, automated testing, and cloud-native development.

 

  • Software Development:
  1. Design, develop, and maintain high-performance, scalable, and reliable software systems.
  2. Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code, following best practices and coding standards.
  3. Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback to improve code quality.
  4. Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in a timely manner.

 

  • Project Management:

 

  1. Oversee the implementation of projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
  2. Prioritize and manage multiple tasks, balancing short-term and long-term goals.
  3. Communicate project status, risks, and challenges to stakeholders effectively.
  4. Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture, encouraging innovation and continuous improvement.

 

  • Innovation and Growth:

 

  1. Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends, evaluating their potential impact on our products and processes.
  2. Drive continuous improvement initiatives, enhancing the team's productivity and software quality.
  3. Contribute to the growth and development of the engineering team, identifying training and development opportunities.

 

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or related technical discipline AND 12+ years’ experience building software and complex services
  • 5+ years of working experience in designing, building, and managing highly available and distributed services
  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering, preferably using Java, C#, JavaScript, and related frameworks preferably Spring, React
  • 5+ years of working experience with cloud services such as AWS, Azure, or others, and familiarity with cloud concepts such as orchestration and microservices
  • Experience in software engineering practices, coding and solid foundation in data structures, algorithms with proven testing, debugging and analytical skills
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices such as continuous integration, continuous delivery, testing, and monitoring
  • Effective communication, collaboration skills, ability to deal with ambiguity and prioritize issues to create clarity
